Historical information

This beautiful house was originally built in the 1880’s by John Whitfield Kerr. John Kerr served as a second lieutenant in the Confederate Army where he was wounded twice and captured. In 1871, John moved his family from Celina, TN to Celina, TX where he built the house now known as “The Kerr Inn.”

Known as “Uncle Whit”, John was active in the community and the Presbyterian Church. Recently, the Presbyterian Church John attended was sold and is currently a shop.

Celina, TX is located in Collin County, location of several of the best cities in the U.S. Just 11 miles to the east is McKinney, voted second best place to live by Money Magazine. Twelve miles south is Frisco, home of some of the best minor league sports around. Home to the Texas Rangers minor league team, the RoughRiders, the headquarters of the Dallas Stars hockey team and now headquarters of the NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys.
